We know you already love Labs, but what about the annual Oscar ceremony in Hollywood? If you’re like many of us, you gather with your friends (and dogs nearby) to watch the ceremony and cheer for your favorites.

This year, we found a way for you to celebrate your love of Labs and all-things Oscar in a fun and rewarding way. Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Rescue (GGLRR) is sponsoring a “Predict The Oscar Winners” contest for this year’s awards, which will be telecast live from Hollywood beginning at 5pm PST on Sunday, March 7th.

For a $25 donation, all of which goes to helping rescue and place Labrador Retrievers, you can enter our contest for a chance to win the Grand Prize:

SAN FRANCISCO GETAWAY

One night’s accommodations in a King Deluxe room at the luxurious Hotel Palomar San Francisco, a sophisticated, artful retreat in the heart of downtown San Francisco PLUS two tickets to the legendary and zany Steve Silver’s Beach Blanket Babylon, the longest running musical revue in theatre history featuring extravagant costumes and outrageously huge hats.

The person who predicts the most winners out of the 24 categories wins the Grand Prize. In the case of a tie, one winner will be selected from the highest scoring entries in a random drawing.

Additional Prizes

Additional prizes for this contest, generously donated by other wonderful supporters of GGLRR, are:

First place prizes: Three winners each will receive one $100 gift certificate for premier dog boarding or daycare from Pooch Hotel, a family-owned, upscale facility featuring top-dog customer service and five-star amenities, with locations in Chicago and Sunnyvale.

Second place prize: $100 gift card from Pet Food Express, one of the country’s leading pet food and supply retailers, and the sponsor of GGLRR’s monthly Pet Fairs.

Third place prize: AKC Orthopedic Pet Bed, 27-inch by 36-inch luxurious micro plush with woven suede and an orthopedic pad for comfort, a $60 value, donated by Pet Food Express.

Fourth place prizes: Two winners each will receive one $25 gift card from Pet Food Express.

The First Place prize will be awarded to the person who predicts the next highest number of winners after the Grand Prize winner is selected.  In the case of a tie for the Grand Prize, after the tie-breaker drawing determines the Grand Prize winner, the remaining finalist will be awarded the First Place prize.  In the case of a tie for First Place, and all remaining prize levels, one winner will be selected in a random drawing, with any remaining finalist(s) from that prize level eligible for the next prize level and so on, until all prizes are awarded.  If prizes still remain, all remaining prizes will be awarded based on the next highest number of correctly predicted Oscar winners until all prizes have been awarded.

All entries must be received by 12:00 noon PST on Saturday, March 6th, 2010. Ballots will be tabulated with the announcement of the winners after Sunday, March 7th, 2010. The “Predict The Oscar Winners” contest is open to legal residents of the United States, ages 18 or older. GGLRR board members and GGLRR Rescue Representatives are not eligible to win prizes.

As an added bonus, we will post a photo of the “Predict The Oscar Winners” Grand Prize winner along with his or her pet(s) on our website and on our Facebook page, adding to the winner’s bragging rights!

We can’t think of a better way to enjoy the Oscars while helping to support the efforts of GGLRR. The need is great with more Labs than ever facing the prospect of homelessness or worse, so support GGLRR while having fun competing against your fellow Lab lovers!
