DUKE : 9 years young, purebred Yellow (Fox Red) Labrador Retriever, neutered male, 100 lbs
Duke desperately wants a family to call his own. We've been trying to find this lovable and snuggly boy a new home since last fall and are surprised that no one has responded about this great boy. Duke has lost some of his eyesight but gets around beautifully and is a very happy Lab. Duke once had a family and they loved him a lot, but one of the kids developed severe allergies and Duke had to go. He was so sad to leave his family. He's been in a great foster home and is doing really well, but he so wants a new family. He is a fun loving, happy go-lucky kind of dog that gets along with other dogs and cats too. He is completely housebroken, very eager to please, comes when called, and knows many commands and tricks including Sit, Lay, Speak and Shake Hands. He will even carry his own leash on walks. Duke will also balance a treat on his nose and hold it there until he’s told “OK” and he will toss it in the air and catch it. He is so eager to please, and loves being around people. He loves to put his head on your lap so you can scratch his ears, and will fall asleep in that position. If you are sitting on the couch, he will lay down on your feet, keeping them warm. He is easygoing and good natured, and absolutely loves to ride in the car. Duke gets very excited when he meets new people or goes to a great new place, and will bark in excitement. Duke prefers to have someone around most of the day though does fine when left alone in the house when his people are gone. He would do well in a home with another dog too. Duke is a big boy, but his foster feels he is a good weight. He's big boned, after all. Please give this deserving boy a chance to have his own family again. He's at the age when he's easy to have around and he doesn't ask for much...just love and a place to call home. Duke is truly a big teddy bear who will brighten your life for years to come.
If you could open up your heart and home to Duke, please call GGLRR Lab Rescue Rep Gretchen at 408-266-8599. Duke's foster can no longer keep him so we need to find him a home quickly.
