Boomer: 8-year-old male black Lab mix 65 pounds neutered

Background: Boomer came back to us after being adopted to a wonderful family early in 2019. Mr. Boomer bit the child in the family and the family sadly felt that Boomer needed to find a new forever home.

What Boomer’s foster says: Boomer returned to our home after a year and moved back in with ease. He is the same good natured mellow boy, and such a cuddly bear of a dog. Well-mannered in the house, he will lay at your feet all day long if you let him. He is crate trained but will happily sleep through the night by your bed if you wish. Boomer knows all basic commands and also does not bark as far as we can tell. He gets along fine with our dog and our cat. He might chase a cat or a squirrel outside, if given the chance. A great example of a dog who follows a good leader, Boomer does whatever our black lab does and responds well to clear direction from his humans. While totally mellow in the house, he is an active dog and loves to get out and about. He loves to play ball and is a great retriever, and he walks well on and off leash. In greeting other dogs, he can sometimes go for the mounting approach but he is pretty easily dissuaded. Boomer would do well in an active family that likes to walk, hike and spend time playing ball with him. Would be fine with a dog or cat in the family.

What Boomer’s Rescue Rep says: Given Boomer’s history, he would do best in a home with dog-savvy adults only. Boomer would love hanging out with another dog or going solo.

Medical Information: Boomer is in fine health. He is microchipped, current on vaccinations, neutered, and heartworm negative.

Boomer is located in: El Cerrito.

Our volunteers donate their personal time & phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
