EMILY: 10.5 year old spayed black Lab mix 56 lbs.

Background: Lab Rescue adopted Emily to a lovely family in 2014. She has been loved and well cared for. Unfortunately, due to illness, the family has asked Lab Rescue to find her a new forever home.

From the Previous Owners: Emily has been a wonderful dog. She is an easy going mellow dog to have around and is quiet and relaxed in the home. She loves looking out of a door or window at birds and squirrels. Emily is an alert barker and will bark if strangers arrive and/or packages are delivered. She enjoys going on a short daily walk and would probably enjoy a second one. She walks fairly well on a leash but will pull if she sees another dog. She enjoys being both inside and outside as long as she is lying down next to her humans. She sleeps on her bed in the family room.

From Emily's Rescue Rep: Emily is a sweet calm girl with a beautiful shiny coat who loves her naps. She will greet new people with gentle kisses while gladly accepting pets. Like most Labs, Emily is treat motivated and currently knows sit and down. She rides well in a car. Emily is used to having her peeps around her all day but if they need to go out she is fine being left alone to roam in the house. She is housebroken and will scratch at the back of the front door if she needs to go potty. She does not have resource guarding and has never had any aggression towards humans.

Lab Rescue is looking for someone who is around during the day and wants the company of a mellow dog to hang out with. When Emily sees other dogs on her walks she will bark a lot. Lab Rescue wants someone who is committed to using a professional trainer for ~2-3 times to to lessen her reaction when she sees other dogs. She is not a dog that can go to dog parks or hang out with other dogs. She has not been around young kids but we feel she would be fine with kids 6 and older who are respectful of dogs. No other dogs or cats in the home please.

Medical: Emily is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. She will be seeing a vet on 5/11 for a health check.

Our volunteers donate their personal time & phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
