Gracie: 2-year-old female Black Lab 65-lb Spayed

Background: Gracie came to GGLRR as the owner was having hip surgery and she realized she could not take care of her as she is an active young Lab. Even though she would get beyond her surgery she realized Gracie needed a new home that could help with continue with her trainer and get her regular exercise.

What Gracie's foster has to say: Gracie is a sweet young dog who is very playful and spirited and also loves to snuggle. She loves people and dogs and wants to immediately engage with every child, adult, and dog she meets, frequently jumping up on new people.

When at home, Gracie understands the basic commands (sit, down, shake, come, off) but will need some additional training on these when out and about. With consistent training for Gracie and her new family, she should thrive. She still needs help getting comfortable riding in the car as currently, she tries to jump out as soon as she gets in. Again we've been working on this with her and have seen some improvements. When Gracie is left home alone she makes herself very comfortable and she was previously allowed to sit on the furniture. She is an active chewer so best to keep nondog items (kids' toys, shoes, bags, etc.) out of reach. An active home, maybe with another adult dog for Gracie to play with would be ideal. Her health seems great and she will likely bring many years of joy to the right family. We would consider keeping sweet Gracie ourselves but our family is only able to foster at this time due to a forthcoming remodel of our home requiring us to soon relocate temporarily. We can't say enough good things about this wonderful dog.

What Gracie’s Rescue Rep says: We are looking for a home where someone is home most of the day, and experience with a high-energy dog, and will continue her training. She is a great girl and learns quickly and enjoys a home where she regular exercise and she loves other dogs.

Medical: Gracie is spayed, up to date on her shots, takes heartworm medicine, and is microchipped. She is one healthy girl!

Gracie is located in: Tiburon.

Our volunteers donate their personal time & phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
