Thor: 18-month-old male yellow Lab mix 66 pounds neutered

Background: Thor’s aging owner was just unable to provide all the care and attention that Thor needed. We met Thor at a dog boarding facility up in Santa Rosa where he was having a blast running around with all of the other dogs there.

What Thor’s foster says: Thor is a very sweet-natured dog who is adjusting to life quickly in our home. He is taking a cue from our own older Lab on how to behave. When it's time to nap or go outside, Thor is our dog's shadow. He is completely house-broken and sleeps through the whole night on his dog bed next to us. Thor has a lot of energy as one would expect of a dog this age. He is very loving and gives lots of kisses (with a few nibbles as well). He likes to play fetch. He plays well with other dogs in the dog park. Thor needs a bit of a refresher with walking on a leash but the rest of the commands are pretty good -- sit, stay, come. He needs work on being taught not to jump up on sofas and beds. He also wants to counter-surf but is learning that is a no-no. Thor is a Lab-mix on the outside but seems to be all Lab on the inside. He needs love, lots of exercise, and a bit more training. He will make a great addition to some lucky family.

What Thor’s Rescue Rep says: What a pleasant and fun-loving pup. Gets along fine with other dogs. No idea how he is with kitty cats. Soft mouth when taking treats. Great dog for a family with kids.

Medical Information: One healthy guy. Neutered, current on vaccinations and microchipped. Still needs to get a heartworm test.

Thor is located in: Belmont.

Our volunteers donate their personal time & phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
