WHISKEY (just turned) 10 year old AKC registered purebred male English Chocolate Lab neutered 97 lbs

Background: Lab rescue was called by Whiskey’s and Grace’s owners as they were working from home and now need to go back to work in the office. The commute is long and they recently downsized so Whiskey and Grace will now be alone in a RV for 10 to 12 hours a day. It was a difficult decision for them to make to rehome them. Selflessly they knew it was the right decision for the dogs.

From Whiskey's Rescue Rep: Two words to describe Whiskey- Pure Love! He is very sweet and affectionate. His previous owners purchased him from a breeder as a puppy. He is gentle and laid-back. Whiskey is treat motivated and knows some basic commands. He may bark if someone he doesn’t know approaches or he meets another dog on leash but then he warns up to them right away. He has gone to doggie day care and done fine. Whiskey sleeps on his dog bed through the night. He loves to swim! He was raised with kids 9 and up. No toddlers please as he could inadvertently knock them over. No cats please. Whiskey is used to going on one walk a day but would enjoy a second one. No resource guarding is noted.

Lab Rescue is looking for someone who is strong enough to walk Whiskey and Grace together. The previous owners said that Whiskey and Grace are bonded and they would like them to be adopted together. The owners walked both of them together with a dual head pet leash.

From Whiskey’s Foster: Whiskey is a gentle giant. He walks placidly beside me on walk, takes treats gently, defers to Grace on many things so is used to giving way, and will give up a toy for play without holding or tugging. He is also in really good shape. I’ve seen him lay down a few times in the Sphinx pose so clearly his hips and spine still very good, amazing for his age and size.

Medical: Whiskey just had a Vet health check and is a healthy dog. He is neutered, up to date on vaccs, Heartworm negative and microchipped. Owner states he has occasional environmental allergies for which they give him Apoquel.

Pending the right adopters are found to meet each dog’s needs, Lab Rescue will consider adopting the dogs individually. The owners walked both of them together with a dual head pet leash.

Whiskey is located in Walnut Creek.

Our volunteers donate their personal time & phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
