Atticus: 4 year-old intact male, white Lab mix, 75 lbs

Background: Atticus was brought into the Sonoma County Animal Shelter on September 14 as a stray with no microchip and sadly nobody has come for him.  The Shelter  contacted GGLRR to help get him out of that environment and into a loving home.

What Atticus' Foster Says: Atticus has been a wonderful dog as a foster so far, no accidents in the house, very quiet, travels well in the car, good hiking buddy, wants to be with people, settles easily, not ball-crazy, and accepting of our two cats.  He's going to make some family very happy!

What Atticus' Rescue Rep Says: Atticus is a gentle soul who thrives on human touch and attention. This sweet boy has come a long way since arriving at the shelter becoming less timid and is quite comfortable approaching new people.  Atticus greets you with a soft, trusting approach, happy to be petted and handled with ease.  With other dogs, he’s curious but mellow—calmly meeting a small, female dog without showing a strong need to engage and is good around cats. Atticus appears to be house trained and walks wonderfully on a leash.  While he’s interested in toys, he’s all about companionship. Atticus would likely do best in a relaxed home with older children and possibly other calm dogs. If you’re looking for a loyal friend to add warmth and love to your home, Atticus may be the perfect fit.

Medical: Atticus is still intact but we are working to get him neutered. Otherwise he seems healthy and has had all his vaccines.  He is heartworm negative, has been microchipped and is on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives.

Located In: Los Gatos.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
