Cash 16-week-old male black lab mix, currently 20 lbs
Background: Four puppies (three boys and one girl) were dumped over a fence in the middle of the night (early on 28 Dec)... and dropped into a homeowner's yard in Morada (near Stockton). The homeowner found the puppies huddled together in the cold in the morning and took them in for safe keeping. We shifted the pups (Cash, Bandit, Poppy, and Kal) to several Lab Rescue fosters in the SF Bay area... and three of the puppies have been adopted. Cash remains up for adoption.
What Cash's Foster Says: Cash is a loving and mellow little guy. He will melt your heart when you first meet him. He loves to give kisses when you hold him in your arms. Cash is smart. He conquered two flights of stairs within 2 days. He is not scared to push himself. He loves hanging out and exploring the backyard. The first attempt at having him sleep in his crate did not go so well. So, we decided to put one of my shirts in the crate and he slept through the night. He will whine when he has to go potty. He loves playing with his toys. The toys have been a great distraction from him chewing on our personal belongings (e.g., shoes, etc.). We have started working on Go Potty, Leave It, Sit, and Shake. Cash is sure to bring joy and companionship to everyone in his “Forever Home”.
What Cash's Rescue Rep Says: These four black pups are nearly identical in their white markings. Kinda like they are all wearing tuxedoes. Incredibly cute and engaging. But with sharp puppy teeth. Cash is looking for a home with a backyard since he is quarantined (in the home/backyard) for the next month -- until he gets his third distemper vax. An adopter with another healthy dog (or cats, hah) would be fine. Need adopters who are around a lot and willing to work on house-training with their foster pup. Not sure what these pups are mixed with. No idea how big he will get... but his legs are pretty thick and he has pretty big paws right now.
More of what Cash's Rescue Rep says. Adopting a young puppy is much like having a newborn baby in the home: very demanding for care and attention, can't be left alone much, cries a lot -- especially at night when you want to sleep. Eat, poop/pee, play, sleep... repeat, repeat, repeat. Puppy-raising is also filled with joy and fun. Young puppies have sharp teeth and tend to go for human toes and hands when available. The adopters will need to be home most (if not all the time), have a home with a backyard, and be fully aware of what puppy care is all about. Not for those who are not ready to full commit to puppy care. Need to have a plan for puppy training and socialization with other puppies. Prior young dog experience is not required but preferable. No other dogs in the home under two years old, please. Cats okay. The employment of a crate and exercise pen (x-pen) will be important too.

Medical: Cash is in great health. He just received his second (of three) distemper vaccinations and his Rabies vax. Microchipped. Due for third DHPP vax in mid-February. We will work with Cash's adopters to get him neutered.
