Chase: 2-year old intact Yellow Lab, 80 lbs
Background: What a magnificent dog! Chase is a classic yellow Lab from hunting lines. His family bred their male yellow Lab Odin with a friend’s female black Lab and decided to keep one of the puppies from the litter, Chase. Two years later, after some unexpected life changes, including a third kid, the family is finding that they just can’t keep up with the time and exercise that a young Lab needs. They are hoping to find Chase a loving home with an active family who can give Chase a fuller life than they can provide currently.
What owner says: Chase is a very energetic happy lab, he loves playing fetch and going for walks. Chase also loves water and playing in a kiddie pool or with the water hose any chance he gets. He has lived with his dad Odin, another yellow lab, and my 2 kids. He loves playing with them, a 6 year old boy and 4 year old girl. They often run around on their scooters and he chases after them, they also like to hug him and cuddle. Chase loves attention and will try and go on your lap for more hugs and head rubs. He is treat motivated and although our life got too hectic to continue his training I know he will do great in learning new things in a new home that can provide him with undivided attention.
What Rescue Rep Says Chase is a great dog, he’s also a LOT of dog! He’s young, strong, and energetic. The ideal adopter will be able to handle him physically, and get him plenty of exercise. He’s a load of fun to play fetch and/or tug with. We’d love to see him go to a home with a fenced yard where he has some room to run - he would NOT be a good dog park dog currently. Chase does great with people and is very good with the young kids in his current home. No resource guarding of food or toys with people, however he has started to show some resource contention with the other dog (his dad, also intact) in the home. Chase hasn’t had much training or socialization with other dogs. He can be reactive on leash, and doesn’t like it if a strange dog gets too close to him or up in his face. He did well meeting my stuffed dog, however an adopter may likely need to work with a trainer to improve his dog socialization skills.
Medical: Chase is microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm free. GGLRR will coordinate his neuter with the adopter.
