Dapper: 2-year old neutered male silver Lab, 75 lbs

Background: Recent life changes and job demands have left Dapper’s family unable to provide a good home for him. Although they love him dearly, they realize that Dapper would have a better life if they find him a new home.

What Dapper's Owner Says: Dapper is loving and wants to be beside his people, playful and very much still a puppy who likes to play and engage, loves the water and is motivated to learn. He still has a lot of energy and we exercise him multiple times a day, including walks, playing fetch and tug of war, training games, and swimming. He walks well on a loose leash and off leash. I think he would make a good hunting dog. He is housetrained and crate trained and doesn’t bark when left alone in the house. He plays with other dogs at the park, and does well with most dogs, though there can sometimes be tension with high energy dogs. He does well with our neighbor’s little dog and with the cats of a neighbor who watches him sometimes. He doesn’t like being approached too quickly, especially by large energetic men. He has lived with three preteen boys and enjoys joining in the fun with their friends once he has been introduced and warmed up to them. Dapper needs a strong owner (will, physically fit) who is good with being assertive. He needs interaction, play, exercise, and time with his people.

What Dapper's Rescue Rep Says: Dapper is a great dog. He’s also a young adolescent male who needs structure and leadership. Dapper would make a great companion for someone who leads an active outdoor lifestyle and who has the time and energy to exercise, play, and continue the training foundation that his current owners have built with him.

Medical: Dapper is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and on preventatives.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
