Dusky 6-year-old female chocolate Lab 55 pounds Not yet spayed

Background: Found as a stray in Sacramento County in early November... named "Dusky" by the shelter... this chocolate gal is suffering from some severe skin/fur issues.  She was very affiliative to the shelter staff.

What Dusky's Rescue Rep Says: What a darling dog! Very eager for attention and affection. No food guarding issues; not really interested in food or treats. No interest in chew toys either. Loves bopping around my yard checking things out. Sleeps through the night on her dog bed. Has met all my dogs (Diesel, Molly, and Blackjack). She can be a little snarky when (annoying) Blackjack gets in her face. Gobbles her food (and meds) down. In just the week I have had Dusky, her skin and fur is improving. No idea how Dusky is with cats.

Medical: Dusky is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Not yet spayed. The infection in her left ear is resolving. She has been diagnosed by a doggie dermatologist with Pemphigus foliaceus, a condition where the immune system attacks the skin. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/pemphigus-in-dogs

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
