Frank: 1 year-old neutered male, Chocolate Lab mix, 60 lbs

Background: This beautiful sweet dog was found as a stray and is a friendly, active boy. He is affectionate and attentive, and responds well to training, due to his high food and toy drive. Frank's favorite thing on earth is a tennis ball, and he'll play fetch all day if you let him. His energy was not a good fit for the shelter environment and the shelter reached out to GGLRR to get Frank into a foster home where he is flourishing.

What Frank's Foster Says: Frank is still a puppy and full of energy. He would be the perfect dog for agility training. He is extremely agile, athletic, a quick learner, and wants to please. Frank gets along great with other dogs and has been going on pack walks several times a week. He’s catching on quickly to basic obedience. He is a bit mouthy, nippy, when he gets excited, like any puppy.

He is housebroken and sleeps through the night in a bed on a tiedown. He goes into his crate to eat and sleep as long as we are around. We are working on extending the time we can leave the house while he is crated.

He loves attention, and he’s very affectionate. We don’t let him on the furniture but, if he got the chance he’d love to be up in your lap or snuggling with you on the bed. He is very motivated by food and the ball. He likes to chew and can occupy himself in the backyard with his toys. He would be a great dog for an active person or family, who will keep up with exercise and training.

What Their Rescue Rep Says: This sweet boy will sneak into your heart when you meet him. Frank is a beautiful dog with a good disposition that would do well with an active family and children over 8 years old. He’d make a great hiking companion. He should also do fine with another dog and has been enjoying going on pack walks several times a week. We’d love to see Frank go to a home where someone is around most of the day.

Medical: Frank is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on preventative.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
