Gus 17-month old Silver Lab, Male, Neutered, 80 lbs

Background: Gus and his chocolate sister, Molly, have been living with a 14-year old chihuahua since they were puppies, but they are now picking on the chihuahua, threatening his peace, tranquility, and safety. Gus' humans feel that the chihuahua deserves a home free from harassment and abuse, so they have decided to have Gus and Molly move on to new forever homes. We already have a new home for Molly. Time for Gus to chart a new course for the rest of his life.

What surrendering Owner Says Gus is a great dog with lots of energy. He is a bit too hyper when it comes to our small children. Needs a more active family. He is very hyper and loves to play rough. Because he is so big he can be a bit much when around smaller children or animals. Gus sleeps in a crate at night. Gus remains outside 4-5 hours each day. He knows a few commands: sit, stay, down, come, fetch, drop, wait and off. We play fetch with Gus every day -- his favorite activity. Gus has never been around cats. He loves playing with his sister Molly. Would be great in a home that has a very active lifestyle with lots of room to run. Does great with our young children.

What Rescue Rep Says 80 pounds of fun and energy. Gus has not been socialized with dogs outside his own home pack at home, but he did find when he met my Diesel and foster dog, Molly. No resource guarding. Allowed me to touch him all over. Gus needs a foster home with no small dogs and no cats. Needs to improve his leash skills.

Medical: Gus is in great health. Current on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered.

Our volunteers donate their personal time and phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
