Video: A lovely leash walk with Mr. Jack

Jack 12-year-old male Chocolate Lab 65-lbs Not yet neutered

Background: Jack's former owners brought him to their vet to be euthanized... but the vet who had known and cared for Jack for many years declined their request and offered to take Jack off their hands. The vet office immediately called us to see if we could take Jack into our program. Are you kidding me? "Jack, welcome to the Lab Rescue family!"

What Jack's Foster Says: Jack is a very sweet 12-year-old well-mannered gentleman. He loves to be where you are but likes his naps and cuddles. Jack sleeps through the night, no accidents and settled into our routine quickly. He has no interest in toys or chewing bones. Seems to be good with children (my neighbors' kids). I’m not sure about cats. I take him on two short walks a day and he has access to my backyard as well. Jack would make a great companion to someone or family that is looking for a low key fella.

What Jack's Rescue Rep Says: Jack may be in his senior years, but he has a spark and zest for life.

Medical: Jack is headed to our vet soon for full check-up. Current on vaccinations, Jack has not yet been neutered (we'll look for our vet's guidance on this). He has some arthritis in his back legs and spine... so he is not a speed demon... but he loves his short walks... and would like nothing more than to lie on his dog bed and watch the world go by. Jack is seeking a quiet non-demanding forever home that he can relax in for rest of his years. Presence of another older dog would be great.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
