Kashi - Young Female Chocolate Lab Mix, 50 lbs Not yet spayed

Background: This young mama dog was found with her seven puppies in an abandoned house in Lake County. Named "Kashi" by her fosters she joined our program on 23 December. Her puppies were recently weaned... and are now in another foster home. The shelter recorded that she is a pit bull terrier. We feel she is likely a Lab/pit mix. She is 100% darling.

What Kashi's Foster Says: Kashi is a darling, playful young dog! Her favorite activities are taking long walks, napping in a pile of stuffed animals, and being petted. She is small enough to cuddle in your lap if you are so inclined. Kashi eats heartily, is housebroken, and has not chewed anything other than dog toys. Kashi had a playdate with a friend's 3-year-old female lab mix; they hit it off from the start, walked comfortably beside each other on leash and played fetch together; Kashi showed no aggression over treats or the ball when playing with this new friendly playmate. She has been mostly ignoring our cats.

Kashi is a good car traveler but wants to crawl up front so needs to be restrained. She does well on leash, with some zigzagging but doesn’t pull hard. Kashi does not seem to know any basic commands yet, but has learned her name and seems bright and eager. We did take a walk around downtown Los Gatos where she saw a lot of dogs. She barked a little at the first one (a large white lab) and ignored the rest. She was very friendly around all the humans including youngsters (7-8 years old) and greeted them nicely, welcoming their attention.

Medical: Kashi appears to be in good health. She is up to date on Rabies, DHPP, and has been heartworm tested (negative). She is only about 50 pounds. GGLRR will coordinate her future spay.

Located In: Los Gatos

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
