Peanut 3-month-old female black Lab mix 15 lbs Not yet spayed
Background: Young Peanut was among ten puppies surrender by their owner in Linden (east of Stockton). The puppies were from accidental litters between their female chocolate Lab and their female yellow Lab... and their neighbor's male Belgian Shepherd (the long-haired black Groenendael variety) who jumped the fence. Peanut was born on 10 Jul (to the older female chocolate Lab).
What Peanut's Foster Says: Peanut...what a sweet, smart, and happy girl! Loves to spend time with my 4-year-old male lab (who loves to play and chill with her) and my 13-year-old female lab (who enjoys not having to play with her). Peanut has slept throughout the night usually from 9:30 PM to 5:30 AM in her crate in the bedroom with all of us. Not a big fan of the crate in the living room unless we are all in there (the living room, not the crate). She has been happy to meet our friends who come to help socialize her (only in our backyard, since she has not yet had all her shots. So far she is doing GREAT on her house-training since she follows our two pups and we make sure to keep her in eyesight at all times in the house and yard. Again...a really smart girl who loves to cuddle and be with her "family". A home with an older, happy roomie (dog) would be great!
What Peanut's Rescue Rep Says: One fantastic pup. Adopting a young puppy is much like having a newborn baby in the home: very demanding for care and attention, can't be left alone much, sometimes cries a lot -- especially at night when you want to sleep. Eat, poop/pee, play, sleep... repeat, repeat, repeat. Puppy-raising is also filled with joy and fun. Young puppies have sharp teeth and tend to go for human toes when available. We envision the adopter will need to be home most (if not all the time), have a home with a backyard, and be fully aware of what puppy care is all about. Not for those who are not ready to full commit to puppy care. Need to have a plan for puppy training and socialization with other puppies. Prior young dog experience is not required but preferable. No other dogs in the home under two years old, please. Cats okay.
