Pluto 6-month-old male black Lab mix 35 pounds Not yet neutered

Background: This pup was found as a stray in San Pablo with his four siblings. Lab Rescue pulled all four dogs out of the Martinez shelter. Pluto (green collar) has been hanging out with his brother Mars (red collar) at his foster home; Pluto’s foster has adopted Mars.

What Pluto's Foster Says: Pluto is a handsome sweet dog who is between puppy-hood and teenage. He loves TLC and he also loves to explore and discover. He likes to inspect what might be on the fruit tree or table. He plays nicely with the neighbor dog who is similar in temperament. Pluto sure loves to romp with his brother Mars too. He will enjoy time with a person who is often with him. Belly rubs are high priority. All objects are potential to get and put in his mouth. He would do well with a gentle, kind older dog who still enjoys romping or a home that is not too chaotic . He knows “come”, “sit”, “stay” and is not bad on a leash but continues to improve as he gains experience and is familiar with the route . He loves to go on a walk and stairs up a long hill are welcome. When tired he stretches out on a blanket. He sleeps all night in his crate without having an accident. Sometimes he would rather explore than to come to you when called. A gentle home with experienced dog person would be good for his confidence.

What Pluto's Rescue Rep Says: We think Pluto might be half-Lab, half-Dalmatian. But he is 100% fabulous! Pluto has lots of energy. His batteries recharge quickly and he is go-go-go. Not for the faint-at-heart or unsteady-on-their-feet. Will do fine with another older dog in the home that can show Pluto the ropes. Cats are likely okay, but Pluto will probably want to play with the cat – not sure if the cat will appreciate that. This youngster is not for a first-time dog owner. Best with older children. Need a home where people are around most of the time. Taking Pluto (and human) for training will be expected.

Medical: In fine health! Pluto has received all of his puppy vaccinations. Microchipped. Will be neutered down the road.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
