QUINCY 2 Year Old Red Male Lab 73 Pounds Neutered

Background: GGLRR received a call from Quincy’s owner’s as they need to rehome him as they do not have the time to give him the attention he needs. It is a very difficult decision for them to rehome Quincy but they know it is best for him. The rep went and met Quincy and we will work with the owner to find Quincy a home that will be able to give him more time.

What Quincey's Owner Says: He has loads of energy and drive! He has been in dog training since he was a few months old. The trainer said he would make an excellent scent dog, or would excel in agility training. He loves to catch the ball with the “chuck it,” and could run all day. He’s friendly, loves other dogs (though the ball takes precedence at the dog park), and loves people. He’s a great dog, we love him dearly, but he deserves room to run and someone who has time/energy to keep up with him.

What Quincey's Rescue Rep Says: He was purchased from a breeder that breeds hunting dogs and the current owner has had him since he was 8 weeks of age. When meeting Quincy we met at his place where he plays ball; he was more interested in playing ball then meeting me. He is a very well loved dog but needs a new home that can give him the time and exercise he needs. Quincy is well trained and knows: Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Drop, Leave It, Off and Shake. He likes to ride in the car and rides in the car in his crate. Quincy LOVES to play fetch and will bring it back each time and drop it; as he knows you will be tossing it again. He comes when called, has been socialized with other dogs and is more focused on his ball even when other dogs are around. Quincy is a very Active dog and loves all people and other dogs. He is house trained and sleeps on a dog bed in the living room or in his crate with the door open. When Quincy is left alone the owners will crate him as he will chew on things out of boredom. He does need better leash manners and he will pull on the leash when being walked. At times Quincy will counter surf, and when greeting people he may jump up. He is a bit sensitive to having his nails trimmed and checking out his ears. He is great with kids but GGLRR would recommend older kids in the home for Quincy. He is very playful with other dogs and loves chasing other dogs and being chased. Quincy is very food motivated so continuing his training would be very easy. GGLRR wants a home for Quincy where he will get more training, plenty of exercise and he could be in a home with another dog. He should not be in a home with cats since he comes from hunting lines.

Medical: Quincy is updated on his shots and heartworm negative. He is microchipped and neutered. He has not had any health issues with the current owners.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
