Roo, 4-year old female Yellow Lab, 63 lbs, Spayed

Background: oo (short for "Kangaroo") needs to find a new home, as her owner is graduating from UC Davis and moving to a new home where she cannot have a dog.

What current owner says: Roo is the sweetest girl! You will notice right away she is very charming, playful, energetic, and silly. She loves meeting new people, and her tail will begin wagging immediately when approached by a person. She is a high energy girl and loves playtime, but she also enjoys cuddling and sleeping in bed, on the couch, or by your feet on the floor. Roo loves adventures, long car rides, and pup cups! She’s very smart and treat-motivated, and has learned many tricks such as “sit”, “down”, “shake”, “stay”, and “fetch.” And she would be very excited to learn more. She is fully potty trained (goes out twice a day), crate-trained, and okay to be at home by herself for 6-8 hours at a time.

Roo does have a high prey-drive and can be reactive towards other dogs, cats, and prey animals (i.e., squirrels, rodents, etc.). However, she is NOT aggressive and will just whine/bark/pull towards them. She does well via slow introductions with other dogs similar to her in size (60lbs) or larger, and would probably do best as the only pet in the household. Roo would benefit from continued training, and access to a yard where she can play freely, without worrying about the outside world.

What Rescue Rep Says What an outstanding dog! Roo would do best in an active home where she gets lots of exercise and solid human guidance. Not for an adopter with a small dog or cats.

Medical: One healthy dog. Current on vaccinations; heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped.

Located In: Davis

Our volunteers donate their personal time and phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
