TIG - 1 1/2 YR. OLD FEMALE YELLOW LAB, 55lbs, SPAYED IS AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER or ADOPTION

Background: Tig has been in a loving family since she was a puppy. Tig and her sister dog, a 10 yr. old mixed breed, have been getting along well until recently when they have been aggressive with each other. While the family wishes they could keep her, they believe it's in the best interest of everyone—both the family and their two dogs—to find her a new home, and have reached out to GGLRR for assistance with rehoming.

What Tig's Current Owner Says: Tig is a 17 month old purebred yellow lab female who aims to please and be loved. Tig has always been shy and timid to new people but has become part of the family and loves it here. There are four teenage kids in and out of the house including their friends and she is happy and excited to see them all and is a cuddler who wants to be around her people. She exhibits fear behavior when approached by some new people (particularly men) but warms quickly. She has developed very well with her trainer in regards to her confidence and general obedience including walking on a leash, recall, sit, down, shake, and wait. She loves water, swimming and retrieving/playing fetch. She is very food and toy driven with typical lab energy.

She has never had issues with other dogs nor animals and she never has been aggressive to any humans. She has developed an issue of aggression with the older and smaller dog in the home, which is the only reason for re-homing.

What Tig's Rescue Rep Says: Tig is a sweet and playful pup with a zest for life! While she was a little shy at first, she quickly warmed up, gently taking treats and happily accepting pets and handling. Tig thrives in an active home where she can enjoy regular exercise, playtime in a yard, and lots of attention from her people. She’s eager to learn and would benefit from continued leash training. Tig enjoys socializing at doggy daycare and does well with other dogs, though she would currently do best as the only dog in the home. She’d be a great companion for a family with children over 6. Her compatibility with cats is unknown, but she’s ready to bring joy and energy to her forever home!

Medical: Tig is in good health, up to date on all vaccinations, is spayed and microchipped.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
