Willie Nelson: Puppy born 6/30/2024 Male Lab Mix

Background: Willie Nelson, along with two of his male littermates and Mama Millie (listed separately) are available for adoption. Willie Nelson was born on 6/30/2024. We don't know what he's mixed with, possibly cattle dog. Mama Millie appears to be a Lab mix and is about 55-60 pounds so we anticipate her pups will grow to about that size. Willie was part of a litter of 7, and he is one of three remaining pups available for adoption. They are 100% adorable!

What Willie Nelson’s foster says: Willie is a super sweet boy with a personality that is starting to shine. He warms easily to new humans and has been very playful with the kids (5 and 9 years). Willie loves getting his energy out by chasing balls and squeaky toys.

He is quickly learning to use the potty outside and has acclimated well to his crate. He sleeps through the night in his crate. His schedule is pretty predictable in terms of food, potty, and nap. He is a typical puppy and wants to chew everything but is very easily redirected as needed. Willie is the sweetest cuddle bug and will nuzzle right into you and sit sweetly in your lap.

What Willie Nelson's Rescue Rep Says: Taking care of a puppy is a big commitment! Puppies, much like young children, require a lot of attention, care, and interaction to grow into well-adjusted adult dogs. They need regular socialization, training, and companionship throughout the day.

Puppies are very social animals and need consistent human interaction to feel secure and to learn appropriate behaviors. Being left alone for extended periods can lead to issues like separation anxiety and can hinder their development.

Here are some key requirements and considerations:
1. Time and Attention: Puppies need a lot of socialization, training, and playtime. They rely on you to help them learn proper behavior and develop into well-adjusted adult dogs.
2. Training,Socialization, and Exercise: Consistent training and exercise are essential for a well-behaved puppy. Socialization with other dogs, people, and different environments is crucial to help them become confident and well-adjusted. (after they're fully vaccinated)
3. Love and Patience: Puppies are adorable but can also be challenging. They’ll make mistakes, and patience and positive reinforcement will help them learn.

Medical: Willie Nelson is in good health. He has received his second round of vaccines. Lab Rescue will coordinate vaccine boosters and future neuters and when they are fully grown at approximately 12 months of age.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
