Zia (9-year old Yellow Lab Female, 108 Pounds, Spayes) & Zeus (5-year old Black Lab Male, 89 Pounds, Not Neutered) Bonded Pair
Background: Zia and Zeus made their way to Lab Rescue via Susanville after a livestock rescue volunteer, located there, was alerted about two dogs left abandoned in a backyard. The volunteer was able to reach Zia and Zeus' owner who had relocated to another country and told her to "just shoot them." She made a 45 minute daily trip to feed/water Zia and Zeus for weeks while she searched for rescue and was connected to one of GGLRR's fosters. Long story short, a village banded together to rescue Zia and Zeus (livestock rescue volunteer, vet, and boarding facility in Susanville, volunteer pilot, and GGLRR)
What Zia and Zeus' Foster Says: First day, "things are going well over here. Good house manners, afternoon nap with snoring, drinking water, wandering in and out of the house. These two are really great dogs." "Arriving home after their vet visit, I got Zeus out of the car first- Zia is more of a project. I planned on getting him into the house then going back for Zia. Zeus walked with me to the porch edge, then he stopped. He would not move farther while Zia was still in the car. So we both went back to get her, she got out, they marched to the porch and into the house."
What Zia and Zeus' Rescue Rep Says: Zia and Zeus are incredibly loving, forgiving, and resilient dogs. Having been abandoned and left to navigate life on their own, they now need a home where they will be embraced as cherished members of the family, showered with affection, and given the pampering they deserve. Both exhibit the lovable Labrador qualities of sweetness, friendliness, and a laid-back nature. They would be wonderful family pets and get along well with children. However, we are seeking a family who will respect Zia and Zeus and ensure that toddlers and young children do not crawl over or pull on them, even though they would likely tolerate it. Cats are unknown.
