ACE 7 Year Old Black Male Lab 90 Pounds Neutered

Background: GGLRR received a call as the owner of the two dogs passed away and the family was struggling to find any relatives or friends to take the two boys. They reached out to several rescues and we were the only one to get back to them. They want the best for the dogs and made a promise to the owner they would find good homes for the dogs. (The family also have a close family member in hospice and the boys are not getting the time they deserve.) The family is fine with the dogs being adopted out to separate homes.

What Ace's Caregiver Says: Both dogs have been around a variety of people and have lived with other dogs. Ace is a typical Lab and is very playful. He loves attention and the past month he has not received a lot of attention. He used to be an inside dog and were housebroken but the last month he has lived outside on the ranch. He loves to swim, go for car rides and knows some commands: Sit, down, here and loves to play fetch. He will chase rabbits; so he should not be in a home with cats. He has been around a variety of dogs and has not had any issues; he just wants to play.

What Ace's Rescue Rep Says: Definition of a Lab: Come meet ACE – he is one happy boy! Ace wants to please and just loves attention. He has been well cared for but the last month he has not had much attention; due to the change in the owners situation. He can be adopted into a home with another dog but we would recommend a home with another that that is a submissive dog. He needs to work on his leash skills. He does get excited to see you but he does not jump up on you. He should be in a home with older kids as he may overwhelm small children. Ace has a soft mouth and of course loves food. You can take his food bowl from him with no issues and he will drop the ball for a fun game of fetch. You can pet him all over, take balls from him, take toys from him and check his ears and feet. (You may get licked a bit as he thinks it is a fun game.) Ace loves to run so we would like to adopt him to a home that will get them out for regular exercise and continued training. Ace is one sweet beautiful LAB! We have Ace in a boarding facility and he is doing well. He is clean in his kennel and gets out to play with other dogs on a regular basis. They facility loves having him there.

Medical: Ace has not had any medical issues and he is updated on his shots, he is microchipped, neutered and heartworm negative. (If Ace goes out for a 5 mile hike his ankle may swell a little. The vet said there is nothing to do about this.)

Located In: Petaluma. Please note our service area: GGLRR adopts to the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
