Callie 13-year-old female black Lab 86-lbs Spayed

Background: Callie and her younger pals (Hazel, Honey, and Jemma) just joined the Lab Rescue program from the Chico shelter where they'd spent the last nine months. They were "on hold" as issues with their prior owners worked their way thru the judicial system. Now that the legal beagles have finished their work, Callie and the others are free to find their new forever home.

What The Shelter Says: Easy to walk and low maintenance. Callie is engaging with people and all our volunteers are able to walk her. She goes for slow walks and holds it in her kennel so potty training should go easier. Has some hearing loss; if she is asleep and you try to wake her, she doesn’t move till you touch her. And she is fine with that, no reaction; she just gets up and goes with you. Enjoys human interaction and treats. When we bring her up in the office she will just lay down and hang out. Chews on a bone, no issues with us handing her while she does that.

What Callie's Foster Says: Callie is settling in nicely. Has had no problems getting into the routine of the household. She has tried nearly every bed and couch we have inside and out. (Because she can!) Callie is hard of hearing but knows the sign for come and readily heads your way. She sleeps all night without issues in the bedroom on a dog bed ...found she prefers some form of night light. Callie enjoys being with you and also my 4-year-old male lab. Happy to meet new people, especially if you get her pets and scratches. She has seen our cat and gives her a wide berth while she walks by. Loves to roll on her back in the grass and looks forward to belly rubs. Callie walks stiffly after just getting up in the morning, but the kinks work out. Gentle to take treats and eats in the kitchen with my dog when both have meals. Haven't heard her bark. Very quiet. Definitely housebroken and will snooze next to you wherever you plant yourself. Definitely a sweetheart of a girl!

What Callie's Rescue Rep Says: Queen Callie awaits a new forever kingdom she can rule over with a gentle paw. Her subjects must be ever attentive to her needs and wants. A few walks around the palace grounds each day. Royal audiences with her two-legged and four-legged subjects must be frequent and include belly rubs. Her chambers should include a bolstered throne (er, couch bed). The presence of feline companions would meet with her approval.

Medical: Callie is healthy, although a bit overweight. Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations. Getting her to our vet in the near future for a full exam.

Located In: Novato.

Please note our service area: GGLRR adopts to the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
