Dude: 1-year old male Black Lab ~65 pounds Neutered

Background: DUDE is a friendly energetic guy who was found as a stray and is currently in the shelter in Gridley, CA. He was brought to our attention by a Bay Area person doing work in the Gridley area. We reached out to our partners at CCLRR (Central California Lab Rescue) who met him. Dude did great on CCLRR's evaluation but they don't have capacity to take him and asked GGLRR if we could find a foster and forever home for Dude. Dude is starting to get very stressed at the shelter, and we'd love to give Dude his "get out of jail free" card. We have a foster home and now need to find him a forever family.

What Dude's Evaluator Says: Dude was eager for attention when he met our evaluator, took treats gently, and did a "Sit" when requested. She could take food and treats away from him without incident. He knows basic commands and is treat motivated. He will need to work on leash walking skills - he goes back and forth and in circles around you, not a straight line. He's a wiggly, happy boy!

What Dude's Rescue Rep Says: Dude is not a fan of cats, and will chase squirrels, so no cats in the household please. He could live with another dog in the home, but he would not do well with a dog that is more pushy or overbearing. Kids in the home should be 7+, as his energy could knock younger children over. As a young lab, he'll need to get regular exercise - a tired dog is a happy dog!

Medical: Dude is microchipped, neutered, dewormed, and up to date on vaccinations.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
