Lady 18-month-old female silver Lab 55 lbs Spayed
Background: Originally surrendered by her owner who was going into the hospital, Lady was at the Stockton shelter for two months before joining the Lab Rescue program.
What Lady's Foster Says: Lady is a young lab with a silver coat. She is 55 lbs of cheerful joy and happiness. That’s why I call her LadyLouLou Smokeypants. At almost a year and a half old, she is still very much a puppy. She underestimates her girth and surprises herself each time she rolls off the couch mid-snore. She loves to go for walks and is getting used to being on a gentle leader. More so, she loves coming home to her treat. She is somewhat curious to explore but doesn’t want to stray far from her human. Lady is quick to make human friends and her happy place is to be next to me. While I wouldn’t call her a Velcro dog, she may have the tendency to develop into one. She follows me around, inside the house and in the yard. She has recently graduated from sleeping in her crate at night to being on the bed with me. She is a fast learner and is motivated by treats. Lady prefers to do her business in the yard and has never done any business on our walks. She enjoys car rides even though she is still getting the hang of getting in and out of the car. She is getting used to being strapped into the seatbelt with her harness. Overall Lady is a moderately active dog. She doesn’t pull on the leash, she doesn’t break into a run. She notices a squirrel or a bird but doesn’t seem very motivated to pursue them. She is learning how to play and fetch. In her excitement, she tends to jump to greet me. Lady knows she must contain her excitement and she does her best to do so. She’s a lover, not a barker. I’ve heard her bark only a few times, when startled by outside noises that were unfamiliar. She will give kisses any chance she gets, without any prompting. She seems grateful to love and be loved. Lady has full access to an enclosed yard and comes and goes as she wishes from the minute she wakes up to bedtime. Because of her propensity to go to the bathroom in the yard, it would be best for her to have access to a safe yard. Due to her strength and jumping agility, Lady would do best as an only dog in a home with adults only and no cats.
What Sarang's Rescue Rep Says: What a delightful young dog. A handful but she will make for a wonderful family dog. Has gotten along well with some dogs, but did have an expected spat with another dog at a boarding facility where she bit the other dog in the ear. So Lady is not a dog park dog and would probably be best as an only dog. Ideal candidate for obedience training and lots of exercise. Would do best in a home with a large yard.
Medical: In fine health. Spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative.
