TOBBY: 8-Year-Old Black Lab Mix, Neutered, ~109.5 lbs

Background: Tobby came to GGLRR through a shelter in San Jose after being surrendered along with another dog for reasons that are unclear. One shelter staff said he thought the owners were older and unable to take care of their dogs any longer. What the shelter wrote about him: Meet adorable Tobby! He is 8 years young and such a sweetheart! Staff love him. He is very easy going and not fazed by other dogs.

What Tobby's Foster Says: Tobby is a sweetheart. He is our gentle giant! He gets along well with other dogs, is sweet with our children and loves to introduce himself to all adults he sees while out on our walks. We’ve built up to 2 short walks a day to increase his endurance and help shed some of the extra pounds. This has made a noticeable difference in both his weight and mobility.

Tobby has one mode and that is chill! He casually strolls along on our walks and likes to nap the day away. He also rarely barks and has never chewed up anything.

What Tobby's Rescue Rep Says: Meeting Tobby at the shelter, I found a calm, easygoing very big dog. He allowed all over handling and did fine meeting other dogs. While at the shelter, both times, staff approached and commented on how great Tobby is! We got him in with one of our vets, and it is recommended that he lose about 10 pounds. We'd love to see Tobby in a home where he can be part of the family with a nice bed to sleep on, plenty of love, and regular exercise to keep him happy and healthy.

Medical: Tobby is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He does have some arthritis which was more noticeable when he first arrived into foster care. However, his foster family has been taking him on short walks and he's on an anti-inflammatory to help ease the discomfort.

Located In: San Rafael.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
