Zoe 14 Year Old Black Female Lab Mix Spayed

Background: GGLRR adopted Zoe out 2 years ago and unfortunately due to changes in the family the current owners can no longer care for Zoe. This is Zoe’s story when we adopted her out 2 years ago. Zoe came to us from a very loving owner who needed to rehome her due to medical issues which left him unable to care for her as he would like. Zoe used to live outside (except in the winter) and would go to work with her owner. This last winter his wife decided she did not want Zoe to come into the home and with is medical issues he felt the right thing to do was find a new home for Zoe. It truly was a very hard thing for him to do but he knew it was the right thing. He called Lab Rescue and we took Zoe into our program and have her in a foster home.

What Zoe's Owner Says: Zoe is a very sweet 14 year old lab mix. She is very friendly with both adults and children. Her days usually consist of a short walk, and a lot of relaxation in her bed. Overall, she is a low maintenance, very caring caring dog.

What Zoe's Rescue Rep Says: Sweet Zoe is an amazing girl. The owners describe her as loving, calm and well behaved. She is an indoor dog, loves sleeping on her dog bed and truly appreciates attention. She is very well trained and knows, sit, stay, down, come, wait and off. They current owners take her for a short walk each morning and she still enjoys doing this each day. (They feel they are not ale to keep up with this routine for Zoe with the family changes.) Zoe is great with kids and all adults but she may snap at other dogs at times. (She has not done this in a while. If I was Zoe’s age I would snap also – wait I do it at my age!) She ignores cats and chickens. We would love to find a new home for Zoe that understands senior dogs. She would make a great companion for anyone and a home that will take her out for her short walks each day. We would recommend a home with out a lot of stairs and a home without young active dogs. She would be fine in a home with cats and if children then maybe children that understand not to be rough with a senior dog.

Medical: Zoe just had a full medical exam and blood work done. She is current on her shots, she is spayed and takes preventatives on a regular basis. She loves to go for walks and goes up and down a few stairs on her current home.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
