Four ~11-week old Lab Mix Puppies, ~16 lbs
Background: These four puppies (three boys and one girl) were dumped over a fence in the middle of the night (early on 28 Dec)... and dropped into a homeowner's yard in Morada (near Stockton). The homeowner found the puppies huddled together in the cold in the morning and took them in for safe keeping. We have shifted the pups to several Lab Rescue fosters in the SF Bay area.
Three males -- Cash, Bandit, and Kal
One female -- Poppy
Cash is a loving and mellow little guy. He will melt your heart when you first meet him. He loves to give kisses when you hold him in your arms. Cash is smart. He conquered two flights of stairs within 2 days. He is not scared to push himself. He loves hanging out and exploring the backyard. The first attempt at having him sleep in is crate did not go so well. So, we decided to put one of my shirts in the crate and he slept through the night. He will whine when he has to go potty. He loves playing with his toys. The toys have been a great distraction from him chewing on our personal belongings (e.g., shoes, etc.). We have started working on Go Potty, Leave It, Sit, and Shake. Cash is sure to bring joy and companionship to everyone in his “Forever Home”.
Kal and Poppy are adorable! They are friendly and love to romp with each other in the garden. They seem very trainable, already responding to the command, "sit", especially when they see treats! Eat, play, and sleep are what they love to do at the moment! They enjoy being close to their humans and are very affectionate, but are also comfortable being in the closed x-pen area by themselves. They sleep in the x-pen with a crate attached overnight. They typically sleep outside of the crate, but do sleep through the night. Anyone would be lucky to have either one or both of them!
Bandit will steal your heart :-) So far, no accidents. Sleeps in his crate at night - He will whine when he needs to go outside. Loves to cuddle, play, and eat. While I am at home, I will leave his crate door open (which opens into his play pen - sometimes the door is open) and he will walk into his crate sometimes to sleep. Been working with him going into his play pen area with the pen door closed so he gets used to being restricted to an area. I left yesterday for about 1.5-2 hrs and he whined in his locked crate (had blanket covering it) and soundscapes on (have camera to check on him for when I leave / monitor). I would be shocked if a potential adopter met him and didn't want to adopt him.
What their Rescue Rep Says These four black pups are nearly identical in their white markings. Kinda like they are all wearing tuxedoes. Incredibly cute and engaging. But with sharp puppy teeth. Looking for homes with backyards since the puppies will be quarantined (in the home/backyard) for the next two months -- until they get their third distemper vax. An adopter with another healthy dog (or cats, hah) would be fine. Need adopters who are around a lot and willing to work on house-training with their foster pup. Not sure what these pups are mixed with. No idea how big they will get... but their legs are pretty thick and they have pretty big paws right now.
Adopting a young puppy is much like having a newborn baby in the home: very demanding for care and attention, can't be left alone much, cries a lot -- especially at night when you want to sleep. Eat, poop/pee, play, sleep... repeat, repeat, repeat. Puppy-raising is also filled with joy and fun. Young puppies have sharp teeth and tend to go for human toes and hands when available. The adopters will need to be home most (if not all the time), have a home with a backyard, and be fully aware of what puppy care is all about. Not for those who are not ready to fully commit to puppy care. Need to have a plan for puppy training and socialization with other puppies. Prior young dog experience is not required but preferable. No other dogs in the home under two years old, please. Cats okay. The employment of a crate and exercise pen (x-pen) will be important too.

Medical: The puppies appear to be in good health. We got them to a vet for wellness exam, DHPP vax #1, and flea preventive. All good! Just got dewormed too. Due for second DHPP vax in late January.
