Becky ~10-year-old female yellow Lab 65 lbs Spayed
Background: Becky is one of a large number of purebred Labs recently removed from a hoarding situation. She, along with her former companions, were in pretty rough shape: flea dermatitis, major ear infections, infested with roundworms or tapeworms, embedded foxtails, filthy coats, badly worn teeth -- absolutely beyond bedraggled. We are thrilled to give Becky and the other Labs some major medical care and long overdue TLC... and ready them for new (and outstanding) forever homes where they can thrive.
What Becky's Foster Says: Becky (aka Becky Lou, aka Mama Becky, aka Mama B.) is absolutely the sweetest girl. Definitely an easy foster! She gets along with the resident dogs and enjoys being with them. She also enjoys a nap in her bed by herself. Multiple short walks throughout the day. Mama B. is getting used to being in a new environment (leashes, walking, etc). She will follow you everywhere and will sit quietly outside enjoying the yard with you. No digging, no barking, no eating odd things, she is house-trained and sleeps all night on a dog bed in the bedroom with all of us. Would love to see her get to enjoy her retirement years in a family with another dog or two, minimal stairs, and someone around most of the time. She can be left inside for a couple of hours without issues. No idea about a crate, but she really doesn't need one. Car rides are definitely a new thing. Needs help getting in and out. She does respond to the name Mama (our vet mentioned that many times in some situations that's what the female dogs were called) hence Mama B. She's a LOVE!
What Becky's Rescue Rep Says: Becky is just the sweetest pup. A very easy foster. She gets along fine with other dogs. No idea how she is with cats; but I suspect she couldn't care less. Slow easy short neighborhood walks would be the max exercise she would need. Lots of rest and relaxation, good nutrition, and human TLC is in order for them. Becky has had a difficult life thus far... but her future is bright. We would welcome adopting out Becky and one of her companions (Melodie, Stan, Ruby, Gertrude, Betty Jo, Franklin, Sally, Tala, or Lucy) to the same family. Becky gets along great with other dogs and people. Becky must be the center of attention in her new forever home. Minimal steps and stairs would be best.
Medical: We think Becky is already spayed due to presence of possible spay scar. She is recovering from an ear infection. Heartworm negative, microchipped, and on a flea/tick preventive. Current on Rabies vax; she needs a distemper vax booster in a few weeks.
Located In: Novato.
