BINGO

Bingo 8-Year Old Black Lab, Neutered Male, ~82 lbs

Background: Bingo is coming to GGLRR after his dad could no longer care for him. The neighbor adopted him but one of his dogs was not welcoming to Bingo so Lab Rescue was contacted to help find him a new home.

What Bingo's foster says: Bingo blended into our family pretty quickly. He is a wonderfully sweet dog, very happy, tail always wagging. He loves to get attention from the people in the family. He also tries so hard to get our senior Lab to play with him but our own guy just ignores Bingo. Bingo is very friendly to everyone we meet while out on walks. We have come to know a few neighborhood dogs and I’m able to drop the leash and let them play together.

Bingo has been a rock star of a houseguest since the day he arrived. He is fully housebroken, he will go potty on command if I point to the yard or he will ask to be let outside. He has slept through the whole night since only the second night here on a dog bed next to our own dog’s bed. We have never had to crate him. We let him have free roam of the house and yard. He walks well in a harness, only pulling slightly. I have no problem walking the two large dogs at the same time. He does not jump up on us. And now that he’s been here a while, we don’t believe he’s a runner. He’d rather stay with us than bolt out the front door. He does however make the biggest mess when drinking from his water bowl, such a sloppy drinker! And I have seen him counter surf for dog food as I'm preparing it.

Bingo is an alert barker. There is no extra barking, it’s only when he hears something unusual outside and wants to let us know about it. We really appreciate this. He will chase cats but he doesn’t seem to care about squirrels or birds. He’s good at briskly walking. He can run laps around the local dog park but I have overdone that so we mostly just go on a couple of good long walks each day.

Bingo and my own dog are lazy co-workers. They snooze a good portion of the day in dog beds next to my desk while I work from home, taking breaks to try to get me to play tug-of-war or chase. If you are looking for an affectionate, loving, easy-going wiggle worm, this dog is all of that. He will make a family so happy. We adore him and know he will be greatly cherished in his forever home.

What Rescue Rep Says Meeting Bingo at the park, I would have thought he was younger than 8. It was clear he was happy to be out walking. I didn't see him nose to nose with other dogs, but there was one dog about 30 feet away that he saw as he was walking onto the lawn. He eagerly looked over; I think he would have liked to go say hello, but it appeared the other dog's handler was keeping him/her in a downstay. Bingo appears to be a friendly, happy dog. His owner mentioned he could use some basic training. Bingo is housetrained. He allowed all over handling.

We'd love to get Bingo into a forever home where he can be part of the family with a nice bed to sleep on, plenty of love, and regular exercise to keep him happy and healthy.

Medical: Bingo is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He is reported to have a chicken allergy and is not being fed anything with chicken.

Our volunteers donate their personal time and phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
