Dottie ~6-month-old female black Lab mix Not yet spayed

Background: Dot and her brother Dash were found as strays one day apart in mid-April in the central valley.  We pulled them out of the Merced shelter.  Dash already has found his forever home.   Time for Dottie to score her forever home.

What Dottie's foster says: If a shadow, a pogo stick, and a marshmallow had a baby—it would be Dottie.  This girl is 6 months of pure velvet puppy love energy.  She’s got the legs of a runway model and the coordination of a baby deer on espresso, but she learns so fast it’s suspicious.  I’m starting to think she’s secretly reading training manuals while we sleep (which she does peacefully in her crate, all night, without a peep).  She adores dogs, tolerates cats with curiosity and good manners, and charms humans like it’s her full-time job.  She already knows “sit,” “down,” and “shake,” and she’s practicing her “professional good girl” routine daily.  Whoever adopts her is getting a best friend who is loyal, loving, and has a taste for your slippers.  That is if she’s able to sneak one away while you’re not looking!

🐾 Gracie’s review (7-year-old lab): Look. I didn’t ask for an intern, but then Dottie showed up with her big paws and her “what’s this?!” energy. And you know what? She grew on me right away. Like a chew toy that squeaks in just the right way. She follows me everywhere, which is flattering but also, like, give a girl some space. She takes direction from me so well that I know she’d be great with another dog in the house. And Dottie somehow already knows how to sit and shake. I’m both annoyed and impressed. If I had opposable thumbs, I’d give her a solid 5 stars.

What Dottie's Rescue Rep Says 110% of incredible cuteness.  She would do great with another older dog.  House-trained.  Crate-trained.  Probably fine with cats too.  No idea what she is mixed with, but I suspect she is not going to be a big dog.  Could be great for a family with children.

Medical: Dot is in fine health.  Current on vaccinations and microchipped.  Not yet spayed -- scheduled for the end of June

Our volunteers donate their personal time and phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
