Harley 10 years old, Chocolate Lab, 89 lbs, Neutered
Background: Harley has been with the same family since he was a puppy. He first lived with the son and daughter (along with a female husky) but work demands limited their ability to care for them and so the parents took in both dogs. Recently, health issues have not allowed them to give him regular exercise or attention so they made the decision to rehome him. His Husky sister passed away a few years ago.
What Harley's Former Owners Say: Harley is a big, handsome Chocolate Labrador Retriever with an even bigger heart. He's full of energy and loves spending time outdoors, especially if it involves running around or playing an endless game of fetch. If you're looking for an active companion who enjoys adventure as much as he enjoys relaxing afterward, Harley could be the perfect match.
Harley is a bit of a goofball and has a fun-loving personality that's sure to keep you smiling. Once he's had a chance to burn off some energy, his affectionate side really shines. He loves being close to his people and will happily settle down at your feet, content just to be near you.
One of Harley's favorite things is attention. He absolutely loves being petted, getting belly rubs, and enjoying a good massage. He's also highly food-motivated, which makes treats a great way to bond with him and reinforce good behavior.
Like most Labs, Harley thrives on companionship and activity. He doesn't enjoy being left alone for long periods and would much rather be with his people. He also hates missing out on playtime, so he'll do best with a family that can give him the exercise, attention, and interaction he loves.
If you have room in your home and heart for a loyal, playful, affectionate, and lovable big guy, Harley is ready to become your new best friend.
What the Rescue Rep Says: Harley is an energetic 10 yr old and is happy, affectionate, and eager for attention. He loves being with people and will eagerly lean in for pets—or better yet, sit on your feet while soaking up all the affection.
Harley is ready to enjoy life as part of a family. Although for the first several years as a puppy he lived in a home, recently he has been spending his time outdoors so will need some help adjusting to life inside a home. With patience, consistency, and a regular routine, he has every opportunity to make a wonderful companion.
Because of his size and strength, Harley is best suited for a home with older children and adults who are steady on their feet. He can pull on leash when he's excited, so continued leash training will help him become an even better walking partner. Another dog in the home would be fine; unsure about cats.
Harley would thrive with adopters who can provide daily exercise, companionship, and a securely fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy games of fetch. He'll be happiest in a home where he isn't left alone for long periods and can enjoy the love, attention, and family life he's been missing.
Medical: Harley appears to be in good health. He is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and will be going in for a heartworm test soon.
