HILO 8 Year Old Chocolate Female Lab Spayed 50 Pounds
KONA 10 Year Old Chocolate Female Lab Spayed 55 Pounds
Background: Hilo and Kona's owner has experienced several significant life changes over the past few years and has made the difficult decision to find these wonderful girls a new home. This decision comes from love and a desire to give them the time, attention, and lifestyle they deserve. They have been cherished members of the family and have always been exceptionally well cared for.
What Hilo and Kona's Current Owner Says: I have two gorgeous, loving, wonderful chocolate Labs that have been with me for the past 10 years (Kona, 10, and Hilo, 8—they are half-sisters). However, my life has changed significantly over the last three to four years. I went through a divorce, my children have grown up and moved out, my job has changed, and I'm moving. Unfortunately, I can no longer provide my girls with the time and attention they deserve. This is an incredibly difficult decision, but I know it's the right one for them.
What Hilo and Kona's Rescue Rep Says:Hilo and Kona are a delightful pair who truly enjoy life. The first thought that came to mind after meeting them was the song, "Girls Just Want to Have Fun!" They are happy, affectionate, playful companions who are happiest when they are together.
These girls are very well trained and know numerous commands, including sit, stay, down, come, heel, fetch, drop, leave it, wait, and off. They absolutely love playing fetch, enjoy swimming, and are always excited to go for car rides. They have excellent recall and happily come when called.
Hilo and Kona are indoor dogs who love being with their people. They enjoy relaxing on the furniture, sleep on their own dog beds at night, and have access to a dog door so they can come and go while home alone. They are trustworthy in the house and can be left alone without any problems.
They enjoy daily walks and visits to the dog park. While they generally do well with other dogs and are gentle and submissive, they have occasionally snapped at a couple of dogs at the dog park. They previously lived peacefully around cats, but they will chase them if given the opportunity. Like many Labs, they may also counter surf if food is left within reach.
The girls have been around children of all ages and would do well in a family with respectful kids. They do not enjoy fireworks, so a quiet place to relax during holidays is appreciated.
Medical: Both Hilo and Kona are healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and receive regular preventative care. They enjoy daily exercise and are in excellent condition for their ages.
