Video: Johnny Bravo bopping around at his foster's home -- with doggy pals

Johnny Bravo 10-year-old male black Lab Neutered 73 lbs

Background: This senior guy was found on a street in Clayton.  Likely dumped by his owner -- awful...  He was languishing at the Martinez shelter for more than a month... and we got him out of there and into a foster home.

What Johnny Bravo's Foster Says: Meet Johnny Bravo — the Gentleman Lab Looking for His Forever Home. Johnny Bravo (or “Johnny B” to his friends) has the heart of a loyal companion and the spirit of a much younger dog. Over the past couple of weeks in foster, he’s shown himself to be the perfect blend of easygoing, affectionate, and delightfully goofy. Despite his age, Johnny has great energy and happily enjoys two 30‑minute walks a day. He loves chasing a ball, exploring the yard, and following his person from room to room like the devoted shadow he is. Indoors, he settles beautifully — often curling up near your desk while you work. Friendly with everyone he meets — people and dogs alike. He’d be perfectly happy sharing his home with another kind, gentle dog. Not a barker, not a worrier — just a calm, steady presence. A true “lab‑etite” and very food‑motivated, but with no resource guarding. Housebroken, sleeps through the night on a cozy dog bed, and rides nicely in the car. Crate‑trained when his foster is out, though he may not need it as long as food isn’t left on the counters. Has some vision limitations but gets around confidently and without fuss.

What Johnny Bravo's Rescue Rep Says:Johnny Bravo would thrive in a home that appreciates a sweet, easygoing older gentleman — someone who enjoys companionship and is home much of the time. He doesn’t ask for much: a soft place to nap, regular meals, gentle walks, and a person to adore.

What Johnny Bravo's Evaluator Says: Johnny Bravo is wonderful!!  Nice calm energy.  Happy dog.  Very affiliative.  Has been hanging out with small dogs at the shelter.  Did fine with handling.  Happily engaged another dog (a husky).

Medical: This gentleman is dealing with some chronic ear issues that will require ongoing care. May have some limited vision too. Typical arthritis issues with an older dog. Current on vaccinations and microchipped. Neutered. Awaiting results of heartworm test.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
