Background: Lulu’s family cared deeply about her and wanted the very best for her future. Due to increasing demands at home with their children and balancing full-time work, they felt they were no longer able to give Lulu the time, structure, and attention she truly deserves and asked Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Rescue to find her a home where she can have more engagement, activity, and companionship.
What Lulu's Foster Says: In just a few days, Lulu has already proven herself to be a joy to have around. While she’s fully grown, she brings all the fun, playful energy of a puppy and is always ready for a game—especially fetch, which she absolutely loves. She is incredibly sweet, takes treats gently, and genuinely enjoys being close to her people.
Lulu is both house trained and crate trained, and sleeps quietly through the night. She has even begun choosing to stay in her crate with the door open, showing how comfortable and well-adjusted she can be in a calm environment.
She enjoys her walks and is making steady progress with her leash manners. At around 57 pounds, she’s a manageable size and responds well to guidance. Lulu is friendly with other dogs and is eager to play, though she can get excited and will benefit from continued structure and training in social situations.
At home, Lulu shows nice manners—she waits patiently for meals, sits before being released from her crate, and waits at the door before heading out on leash. She’s not a digger but does take her role as backyard “squirrel patrol” seriously. Overall, Lulu is a smart, affectionate dog who is already showing how quickly she can learn and adapt.
What Lulu's Rescue Rep Says: Lulu is a bright, energetic dog who will truly shine in a home that can provide consistent training, structure, and plenty of physical and mental exercise. Her DNA shows a mix of 50% Lab, 27% Belgian Malinois, and 23% German Shepherd—breeds known for intelligence, drive, and loyalty. She already knows commands like “sit,” “down,” and “stay,” as well as fun cues like “peek-a-boo,” and performs them impressively.
She loves playing fetch and generally enjoys the company of other dogs, though she can become very excited and will benefit from slow, thoughtful introductions. Lulu is still learning how to manage her excitement on leash, particularly around other dogs, and will need continued work in this area. She has also developed some chewing habits when left alone for long periods, especially if items like socks are within reach, so supervision and appropriate outlets for her energy will be important.
Lulu would do best with experienced adopters who are home much of the time and committed to providing the structure, training, and exercise she needs. She could do well with older children and may benefit from a calm, well-mannered older dog to help guide her. Her compatibility with cats is unknown. With the right home, Lulu has all the ingredients to become a fun and loyal companion.
Medical: Lulu is healthy, spayed, microchipped, up to date on Rabies and DHPP vaccines, and heartworm negative.
