Mac 4-year-old male Lab/Golden mix, Neutered 85 lbs

Background: Mac's family needs to find a new home for him due to occasional scuffles he gets into with their other dog in the presence of their children. They do not want to put their children at risk.

What Mac's Current Owner Says: We've had Mac for about 20 months. Wo got him from someone on Facebook. We think he is Lab/Golden Retriever mix. Mac does great with our young children and our cats. In the past, he has shown resource (food/toys/bones) guarding with our other dog -- and they have gotten into some awful scuffles. Mac loves to be the center of attention and is cuddly; happy to be around the family all of the time. He is a good listener and follows commands. House-broken and crate-trained (that is where he sleeps at night). We can leave him in the home alone without issue, but he is rarely left alone.

Good with many commands "sit", "stay", "come", "fetch", "drop it", "leave it", "wait", "off" and "no begging". We don't go on many walks, but he has a big back yard to play in. Has been known to counter-surf on occasion. Jumps on some people when he first meets them. Pulls a bit on leash when being walked. Loves to fetch, swim, and ride in car.

What Mac's Rescue Rep Says: One fun engaging dog. Best that he go to a home without another dog. Not for anyone unsteady on their feet as he is a strong guy. Would be fine with older children and cats.

Medical: Mac appears to be in good health. Overdue for a vet visit and vaccinations. Heartworm test and microchipping pend also.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
