Background: Melodie was one of 50+ dogs recently removed from a hoarding situation. She, along with her former companions, were in pretty rough shape: flea dermatitis, major ear infections, infested with roundworms or tapeworms, embedded foxtails, filthy coats, badly worn teeth -- absolutely beyond bedraggled. We are thrilled to give Melodie and the other Labs some major medical care and long overdue TLC... and ready them for new (and outstanding) forever homes where they can thrive.
What Melodie's Foster Says: Little Miss Melodie is a sweetheart. After a few weeks of recovering from the various ailments left over from her former life and now spayed, Melodie has blossomed into a very happy go lucky girl. She has adapted to her new life easily in our home with our black lab. Melodie is house trained, crate trained, doesn’t really bark, and walks easily on leash and off. Doesn’t seem to have any vices other than the occasional desire to tell a cardboard box who’s boss. She has chewed up a box or papers when left to her own devices.
She loves her people and just wants to be a part of the goings on around the house. She follows you from room to room and would happily go wherever you go, even into the shower, if you like! Excited each morning for a walk and another in the evening before dinner, Melodie skitter scampers around with anticipation for these daily activities. Even though her back legs are still a little weak, Melodie is up to about 2 miles each day and handling stairs (better going down than up).
She loves to meet people and sniff other dogs every chance she gets. Excited to go out every day she is now riding well in the car whether to the park or to spend time in the office. She does need a boost into a car as jumping up is not her forte. In the evenings she is content to lay at your feet, chew on a bone or head off the bed. She likes to sleep in a bolster bed on the floor in the bedroom. Melodie is definitely a people dog, and is attached particularly to women, but I don’t think she discriminates. Hasn’t spent much time around kids or cats but seems to be a pretty easy-going girl. We call her Little Miss Melodie and she loves being a part of a family.
What Melodie's Rescue Rep Says:Melodie has had a difficult life before landing in her foster home... but her future is bright. Melodie gets along great with other dogs and people. Melodie would be happy in any home where she can be a part of a family that is around most of the time. She seems to take to women a bit more than men, but kids, another dog, cats, no problem! She likes everybody and just wants to be a part of the fun. A home without too many stairs would be ideal
Medical: Current on vaccinations, microchipped, recently-spayed, and heartworm negative. Many of her front teeth (incisors) are quite ground down.
