Urgent temp foster needed for 9-month-old female Lab mix "Mia"
Background: Mia is recovering from femur and pelvis fractures... after being hit by a car in Solano County in mid-August. She is currently being fostered in Napa and her recovery is going great. Her current foster has a 5-day trip planned starting on 11 Sep... so we need a temporary (5-day) foster for Mia starting on Wednesday 10 September.
What Mia's Current Foster Says: Mia is very sweet and loving. Wants to be near people at all times. Loves being petted. Mia is very happy go lucky and a wiggle worm. She loves children. She has been good around other dogs and would like to play with them if she wasn’t on activity restriction. She is good with cats unless they run (she thinks they want to play chase) but is not aggressive in any way. Wishes they would play with her. Goes nose-to-nose with cats that don’t run from her. She doesn’t bother our parrots other than being curious. She has growled at the wild deer but not attempted to go after them. She has never shown any aggression to anyone or anything. Soft mouth when taking her meds. She is basically a happy puppy in need of training. I don’t think she was ever taught any commands. Mia doesn’t understand walking with a leash, resists moving forward with any pressure. Working on house-training; I think she never lived inside in a home before. She is a chewer too; watch out for the legs on your dining room chairs. Sleeps in an x-pen at night.
What Mia's Rescue Rep Says: Mia is on restricted activity/exercise to allow her to recover from her injuries. Needs to spend the day chilling in an x-pen or lying on a dog bed next to you. Use of a crate would be fine. Would be great in a home with another dog, cats, and/or children. A bevvy of chew toys needed to keep her occupied.
Medical: Mia is vaccinated and microchipped. We are weaning her off several calming/anti-anxiety meds. Will head back to vet at end of September for x-rays to see how her fractures are healing.
