Millie ~1 Year Old, Female, Black Lab 50 lbs. Not Spayed

Background: Millie and two other dogs (we think they are siblings) were found in a park in Modesto, likely dumped. A good Sam picked them up and took them to her house, but had to keep them in the backyard as she had other dogs inside the home. We have all three dogs in our program. Millie was pregnant and thankfully, a foster stepped up in the nick of time so Millie could deliver her pups (listed separately) indoors protected from the harsh 100 degree temperatures that hit Modesto during the summer heatwave.

Millie has done an excellent job taking care of her puppies and they are close to being weaned. Millie needs an adopter or foster by the end of August as her foster has other dogs.

What Millie's Foster Says: I hope we can find someone who will really understand her, realize that she's truly a 'diamond in the rough' as far as good dogs go....she's very timid, very leery of everything, but willing to listen and trust if she knows you....I am sure she cannot be off leash for at least the first year. She's constantly looking out the window and she easily jumps in and out of the TALL x-pen I have them in currently. However, once someone earns her trust, they will have an amazing partner for life!

What Millie's Rescue Rep Says: TMillie will need a patient adopter to help expose her to the world around her. Working with a trainer will also be helpful. We think she would thrive in a home with another dog or dogs. One of Millie's siblings, Charlie, has been making steady progress in another foster home and has responded well to the foster's dog. Everything has been new for her.

Medical: Millie has been heartworm tested (negative) and microchipped. She will be receiving vaccines towards the end of August. Lab Rescue will coordinate her future spay.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
