OTTER 16 Week Old Black Male Lab / Mix 20 Pounds NEUTERED
Background: The current family got Otter in late May at 8 weeks from NARF, a rescue around the Auburn area. Otter’s mom came to the rescue when she was pregnant; the rescue brought her into their program from the Central Valley. (Mom was a black female lab; the current owners met the mom in a parking lot for the hand off. No idea who dad was.) The current owners had been looking on line and not getting a lot of traction from other organizations and when they say Otter at the rescue event they feel in love with Otter and decided to adopted him.
What Otter's Owners Says: Otter is crate trained – can leave him for up to 3 hours during the day. Sleeps in the crate at night. He does get up at least twice to go pee during the night. Otter knows: Sit, down, come, off and stay. Working on drop it, leave it, not as consistent on those. Went to Berkeley Humane for training; the basic class. Also did puppy socialization classes through a Richmond organization. They are still working on bite inhibition with him. Her 10 yr old daughter was reinforcing the bad behavior, so they are working on it with the kids as well. Tries to counter surf. Have been working on leash walking and socialization. Otter is one smart puppy that just wants to please!
What Otter's Rescue Rep Says:Otter is your typical puppy! The current owners have done a wonderful job with Otter with training and socialization and Otter wants to learn! He is a very loving dog that enjoys treat training, playing in the backyard, chasing butterflies and snuggles on the couch. Otter needs an adopter who knows about puppies and that will work with him on: House training, not using his mouth when playing – it can hurt those puppy teeth and walking on leash! We would recommend a home that has the time for a puppy and home with older children. Otter can be in a home with other dogs but the other dog needs to be up for puppy energy. A home with cats would be fine but Otter may chase the cat. Otter will make a wonderful addition to your home.
Medical: Otter current on his vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and on preventatives. He is one healthy pup!
Located In: Richmond.
