Panther, 1+ year old black lab mix, ~50 lbs, neutered
Background: Panther was adopted from the San Jose shelter when he was a puppy and given a loving home. However, his family are moving East and cannot take him and asked GGLRR to help find him a home.
What Owner Says: He's the happiest puppy in the bay area! He loves to be pet and loves to play as well. He always goes to the bathroom outside, and if you're out for long periods of time, no worries, he will wait for you to take him out to go. Panther is very playful but also noble. He has zero aggression and is always gentle with people around him. He knows the commands "no", "sit", "come", "stay" and of course "who did this?" - Ha ha! Panther would be the perfect fit for a family that is active and would like a playful and trusted companion!
What Rescue Rep Says: Panther is a friendly, affectionate young dog who loves attention and is eager to learn. He sits on command and takes treats gently. He is still working on impulse control and social skills with other dogs, so he’ll do best with an experienced adopter who can continue his training and help him build confidence. He gets to play with 2 other larger dogs in the apartment complex so another calm, well-socialized canine companion could be an excellent role model. Unsure about cats.
Panther loves going on walks but will need some leash training especially when meeting other dogs as he wants to play so much. He is house trained and his crate training is coming along quickly. His family reports that he’s chewed on his bed when left alone for several hours but has not chewed on anything else.
Panther can pull and jump when he's excited, so he’s best suited for a home that appreciates his enthusiasm. He is very gentle and could be good with kids, but given his size we recommend a home with children 10+ years old. A yard and a family who won’t leave him alone for long stretches would be ideal—Panther would thrive with some structure, attention, and activity.
Medical: Panther is neutered and appears to be in good health. He is current on his vaccines and a heartworm test will be done soon.
