Pluto 5-year old male black Lab, 75 lbs, Neutered

Background: Pluto's current owner is moving to a place she cannot have a dog. Darn! She has asked for our help to find Pluto a new forever home.

What Pluto's current owners says: I have had Pluto since he was a puppy. He has lived with other male dogs and cats. Pluto is very playful, energetic, and excitable. He loves toys, balls and water. Currently, Pluto is alone for seven hours each work day... either hanging out in a crate or outside in my yard. He has not had any formal training, but I've taught him a few commands like "sit", "stay", "down", "come" and "leave it". He plays with my mom's dog every day. Pluto has never been around children. While he gets along with my cats, the cats do tend to stay away from him.

What our evaluator says about Pluto. Yes, an excitable boy. Lots of happy energy here. Very focused on his ball -- even with other dogs around. Allowed me to touch him all over. Nice soft mouth. Pulls on the leash when being walked -- big strong guy needs some training.

What Rescue Rep Says Pluto needs a strong steady hand... and lots of exercise. Not for folks unsteady on their feet or for a family with small children. Would be fine with another dog of similar energy.

Medical: Pluto is quite healthy. Current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Neutered.

The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
