Video: Rubble going for a walk

Rubble 1.5-year old male, black lab mix, 51 lbs, Will be neutered soon

Background: Rubble was left at a car wash as a puppy wearing a sweater and shivering in the cold. A good samaritan took him home to his family and his daughter named him "Rubble" after a character in the PAW Patrol TV series. Unfortunatel,y he's outgrown the allowable size for their apartment and so they have made the difficult decision to rehome him.

What Family Says: Rubble, is a very friendly, smart and loving dog. He loves affection and to give affection. He is very playful. He loves his balls and his toys, and is full of energy. He likes to play with kids, but can get over excited and jump up on them. He is a very strong dog and sometimes can knock them down. He understands a couple commands like sit, come, go outside and stay. He is potty trained and will let you know when he needs to use the bathroom. He is also crate trained and sleeps in his crate all night.

What Rescue Rep Says: Rubble is a friendly young pup who was very eager to greet me, pulling on his leash and jumping up in excitement. He let me pet him all over, check his teeth, ears and paws and gave me some kisses. Rubble has minimal experience walking on leash and is a strong puller especially if he sees things he's interested in - kids, other dogs. He has not been socialized with other dogs and so did bark when other dogs came near and wanted to meet them so will need slow introductions.

Because Rubble has not had much training or socialization, he would be best suited for experienced dog owners. Rubble will be best in a home where he can receive consistent guidance and basic obedience training. Rubble may do well with another friendly, perhaps older dog to show him the ropes. Unsure about cats. Older kids would be ok but not a good fit for smaller kids as he can be jumpy when excited. Ideally, we’re looking for a home where he won’t be left alone for long stretches during the day, a yard for him to play, and a family committed to working with and training him.

Medical: Rubble appears to be in good health and is up to date on vaccines. We have scheduled his neuter surgery for July.

Our volunteers donate their personal time and phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
