Scooby - 2 yr. old Male, 75lb, neutered Chocolate Lab Mix is available for adoption
Background: Scooby's family got him when he was a puppy and the kids named him because they like the cartoon Scooby Doo and he is chocolate like Scooby Doo. Unfortunately, given his size and energy he is too much for the young kids to handle and along with work demands they have made the difficult decision to rehome him.
What Scooby's Owners Say: Scooby is a 2 year old chocolate Lab Mix with a white chest. He is full of energy and always ready to play. Tug of war and chasing toys are his favorite activities, and if there is a toy nearby, he will find it. Scooby can be a little pushy because he has so much enthusiasm, but it all comes from a place of excitement and love.
He sleeps comfortably in his crate at night and sees it as his safe space. Scooby loves being outside, exploring new areas, and soaking up fresh air. When he is indoors, he does a good job letting you know when he needs to go outside to use the bathroom. He also loves the water and is happiest when he gets a chance to swim.
If you are looking for a high energy dog who will want to play, explore, and spend time with you every single day, Scooby is a great match.
What Scooby's Rescue Rep Says: Scooby is a young, enthusiastic Lab Mix who is always excited to meet new people and doesn’t hold back when it comes to showing affection—which means he can be quite jumpy when he’s excited. Because of his size and exuberance, Scooby is best suited for a home without young children, though older kids who are comfortable with bouncy dogs would be fine.
Scooby knows his basic commands and has a solid foundation, but he would benefit from continued obedience training and work on his leash manners. He’s very food-motivated, takes treats gently, and shows no signs of resource guarding with either food or toys, making him a great candidate for positive, reward-based training.
Scooby is both crate trained and house trained. He sleeps in his crate at night and spends much of his day outside. A home with a secure yard where he can burn off energy would be ideal. He hasn’t had extensive experience with other dogs, but when introduced, he has been curious and non-aggressive. His behavior with cats is currently unknown.
Scooby is looking for a forever home with committed adopters who can provide regular exercise, ongoing training, and where he is not left home for long periods of time. He is a big-hearted, energetic Lab ready to grow into a well-mannered lifelong companion.
Medical:Scooby is healthy and up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. He is neutered and microchipped.
