~3-month-old black male Lab/Hound mix "Skeeter Bean"            22 lbs             Not yet neutered

Background: Found as a stray on the streets of Antioch.  Geez!  What the $%&#???  Antioch shelter contacted us immediately and we were delighted to bring this awesome pup into our program and get him into a foster home.

What Skeeter Bean's Foster Says: Skeeter Bean is one of the sweetest, most affiliative pups I’ve met. He has a playful, easygoing “go-with-the-flow” temperament and genuinely loves everyone. He’s just as happy chasing a toy as he is cuddling up beside you. Loves to play with my own dog. He has a very gentle mouth, is eager to learn, and wants so much to connect. Skeeter B is a soft-hearted, joyful boy who will make someone an incredibly devoted companion. He is a dream passenger in the car!

What Skeeter Bean's Rescue Rep Says: Oh my gosh! This is one fabulous puppy. How big will he get? Dunno. Is he truly a Lab/Hound mix? Dunno. Does he love the water? Seems too. Does he like other dogs? Yup. How is he with cats? I suspect he would be fine with cats (better ask the cats). Adopting a young puppy is much like having a newborn baby in the home: very demanding for care and attention, can't be left alone much, cries a lot -- especially at night when you want to sleep. Eat, poop/pee, play, sleep... repeat, repeat, repeat. Puppy-raising is also filled with joy and fun. Young puppies have sharp teeth and tend to go for human toes and arms when available. Young puppies quickly grow up and become big rowdy juveniles that need lots of exercise and structure and patience from their humans. May not be ideal for a family with young children.

Medical: Skeeter Bean is in fine health; just saw our vet for a check-up. Still needs two more round of distemper vaccinations and a Rabies vax. Microchipping and neutering will be down the road. Skeeter Bean will need to be quarantined in his home (and backyard) until early April when he receives his final DHPP vaccination... to ensure he remains safe from parvo and other ailments.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
