Foster needed for ~8-year-old male yellow Lab "Yellow"

Background: Found as a stray in Sacramento County.  He was chipped and registered with the name "Yellow"... Attempts to contact his alleged owner came up empty.  No one came to claim him and he has been chilling at the Bradshaw Animal shelter for a few weeks; he is ready to get out of there.

What Yellow's Evaluator Says: What a friendly guy! Wanted to come right up into my lap. Nice soft mouth. Tail wags like a huge windshield wiper. Let me touch and squeeze him all over. Little interest in food/treats -- zero guarding. Clearly his sight is somewhat compromised -- he was bumping into various things. Loved playing with squeaky toy - just had some trouble finding it. Likely house-trained, but I am not certain. Did fine hanging out with female yellow Lab mix "Amalthea". No real sense of what walking on a leash is all about. Appears to be pure-bred.

What Yellow's Rescue Rep Says: Should be a pretty easy dog to foster or adopt.  Would be fine in a home with another dog.  May be okay with cats.  Would benefit from daily leash walks and a little exercise.  We want a foster/adopter with a backyard so he can chill in some cool green grass and enjoy some warm sunshine.

Medical: Shelter will be neutering him soon.  Current on vaccinations and microchipped.  Heartworm test pends.  Will get him to our vet for a full checkup.  Need to get those eyes checked out.  Might need some dental work too.  He weighs 78 pounds.

Located In: Sacramento.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
